Patty McCormack is an American actress with a long and successful career in film, television, and theater. She was born Patricia Ellen Russo in Brooklyn, New York, on August 21, 1945, the daughter of Elizabeth (née Tamburro) and Frank Russo. Her father was of Italian descent and her mother was of Irish ancestry. Patty has two older sisters, Mary and Theresa. She was educated at Catholic schools in Brooklyn and Queens, and then attended the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan.
Patty’s first film role was as a child actress in the 1956 film The Bad Seed, for which she received an Academy Juvenile Award. She continued to work in films throughout the 1950s and 1960s, including roles in The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive Kind, and The Miracle Worker. In the 1970s, Patty appeared on Broadway in such productions as The Shadow Box and Equus.
In the 1980s, Patty returned to film with roles in such movies as Mischief and Fright Night Part 2. She also appeared on television shows such as Magnum, P.I. and Murder, She Wrote. In the 1990s, Patty starred in the television movie The Stepford Husbands and had a recurring role on the soap opera Santa Barbara.
In recent years, Patty has appeared in films such as You Can’t Take It with You and television shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She has also been active in theater, appearing in productions of The Vagina Monologues and Love, Loss, and What I Wore.
Patty McCormack has been married twice. Her first husband was actor Richard Anderson, with whom she had one son, Adam. Her second husband is actor Michael Jeter, with whom she had no children. Patty currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
