Michelle Collins is an English actress, television presenter and media personality. She is best known for her roles in the soap operas EastEnders and Coronation Street.
Collins was born on May 22, 1963, in Islington, London, England. She is the daughter of an Irish mother and an English father. She has two older sisters. Collins was educated at a Catholic girls’ school in Islington.
Collins began her career as a child actress, appearing in the television series The Newcomers (1965) and Z-Cars (1967). She made her soap opera debut in EastEnders in 1985, playing the role of Cindy Beale. She left the show in 1988 to join the cast of Coronation Street, where she played the role of Rovers Return barmaid Natalie Horrocks. She left Coronation Street in 1991.
Collins has appeared in a number of stage productions, including the West End production of Chicago (1997) and the national tour of The Vagina Monologues (2002). She has also appeared in the films The World Is Full of Married Men (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981) and The Krays (1990).
Collins has been a presenter on various television shows, including This Morning (1988-1991), The Clothes Show (1991-1993) and Loose Women (2009-present).
Collins has been married twice. Her first marriage, to actor Peter Simon, ended in divorce. She has two daughters from her second marriage, to actor Steve McFadden.
