Marilyn Burns was born on July 1, 1949 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the eldest of five children. Her parents were both teachers. She has two sisters and two brothers. Her early education was at the Erie Day School. She then attended the Edinboro State College, where she majored in art education. After college, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting.

Marilyn Burns began her acting career in the early 1970s. She made her film debut in the 1971 film “The Last Picture Show”. She then appeared in a number of other films, including “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” (1974), “Eaten Alive” (1977), and “The Hills Have Eyes” (1977). She also had a recurring role on the television series “Knots Landing” from 1984 to 1985.

In recent years, Marilyn Burns has appeared in a number of independent films. She has also done voice work for the animated series “Robot Chicken”.
