Jim Downey is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, where he has been a cast member since 1985. Downey has also appeared in numerous films and television shows, including The Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters II, Wayne’s World, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Downey was born in New York City on February 4, 1961. His father, James Downey Sr., was an actor and director, and his mother, Patricia, was a teacher. He has two sisters, Kate and Elizabeth. Downey was raised in Greenwich Village and attended St. Anne’s School. He later studied acting at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.

Downey began his career as a stand-up comedian in the early 1980s. He made his television debut in an episode of the sitcom Cheers in 1982. He joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1985 and has appeared in over 200 episodes of the show. Downey has also appeared in films such as The Blues Brothers (1980), Ghostbusters II (1989), Wayne’s World (1992), and Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000).

Downey has been married twice. His first marriage was to actress Rachael Harris from 2007 to 2015. They have two children together. Downey married his second wife, producer Allison Adler, in 2016. They have one child together.

Downey has a net worth of $40 million. He earns a salary of $75,000 per episode of Saturday Night Live.
