Frances Foster is an American actress. She is known for her roles in the films The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Philadelphia (1993), and The Devil’s Advocate (1997).
Foster was born on November 19, 1962, in New York City, New York. Her parents were Eleanor (née Smith) and Robert Foster. She has two sisters, Lisa and Amy. Foster was raised in a Jewish household. She attended the High School of Performing Arts.
Foster’s career began with a role in the film Taxi Driver (1976). She went on to star in the films The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Philadelphia (1993), and The Devil’s Advocate (1997). She has also appeared in the films Anna and the King (1999), Panic Room (2002), and Inside Man (2006).
Foster has won two Academy Awards, for Best Actress in The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Best Supporting Actress in The Accused (1988). She has also been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, winning Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama for The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
Foster has been in a relationship with actor Cyprian Broderick since 2005. They have two sons together, Charles and Kit.
