Cara Buono is an American actress, director, and screenwriter. She is best known for her role as Dr. Faye Miller in the AMC drama series Mad Men.
Early Life
Cara Buono was born on March 1, 1974 in The Bronx, New York City, to a Italian-American family. Her father, Mario Buono, is a former professional baseball player and her mother, Silvana (née Wurzburger), is a homemaker. She has two older brothers, Michael and Christopher. Buono was raised in a strict Catholic household and attended an all-girls Catholic high school, Notre Dame Academy, in New York City.
Career
Buono made her acting debut in the 1989 film New York Stories, directed by Martin Scorsese. She went on to appear in several films throughout the 1990s, including A Bronx Tale (1993), The Basketball Diaries (1995), and Kicking and Screaming (1995). In 2000, she made her television debut in an episode of the NBC medical drama ER.
In 2007, Buono began appearing as Dr. Faye Miller in the AMC drama series Mad Men. She appeared in a total of 33 episodes over the course of the show’s seven-season run.
In addition to her work as an actress, Buono has also directed and written several short films. In 2016, she made her feature film directorial debut with the film The Invitation.
