Billy Ray Cyrus is an American singer, songwriter and actor. He has released 16 studio albums and 53 singles, and is known for his number one single “Achy Breaky Heart”, which became the first single ever to achieve triple platinum status in Australia. It was also the best-selling single in the same country in 1992. Cyrus, a multi-platinum selling recording artist, has scored a total of eight top-ten singles on the Billboard Country Songs chart. His most recent album, Thin Line, was released in 2016 and debuted at number five on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

Cyrus was born on August 25, 1961, in Flatwoods, Kentucky, to Ron Cyrus and his wife, the former Ruth Ann Casto. He has four siblings: two brothers, Christopher Cyrus and Trace Cyrus, who played guitar in the rock band Metro Station; and two sisters, Brandi Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, who is also an actress and singer. Cyrus’s father was a politician who served as a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1984 to 1988. As a child, Cyrus enjoyed playing sports such as baseball and basketball, and he also played the violin. He began his musical career singing gospel music at his local church.

Cyrus’s professional career began in 1992, when he was signed to Mercury Records by John Kalodner. He released his debut album, Some Gave All, in 1992. The album’s title track, “Achy Breaky Heart”, became a worldwide hit, reaching number one in several countries. The album’s success helped launch Cyrus’s career as a country music artist. He released his second album, It Won’t Be the Last, in 1993. The album’s lead single, “In the Heart of a Woman”, peaked at number two on the Billboard Country Songs chart.

Cyrus has released a total of 16 studio albums, including three Christmas albums. He has also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including the Disney Channel original series Hannah Montana, in which he portrayed the father of the titular character. In 2019, Cyrus returned to television with the docuseries On the Record with Billy Ray Cyrus. The show followed Cyrus as he recorded his album The SnakeDoctor Circus.

Cyrus has been married three times and has five children. His first marriage was to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991. He married his second wife, Leticia “Tish” Finley, in 1993. The couple have three children together: Noah (born in 1994), Braison (born in 1994), and Miley (born in 1992). Cyrus and Finley divorced in 2013. He married his third wife, Kristin Luckey, in 2016. The couple have two children together: Sonny (born in 2017) and Dolly (born in 2018).

Cyrus has a net worth of $20 million. He has earned most of his wealth from his music career. He has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and has had eight top-ten singles on the Billboard Country Songs chart.
