Arnon Milchan is an Israeli-American film producer, who has been involved in over 130 films. He is the founder of Regency Enterprises, a production company which has produced films such as Pretty Woman, L.A. Confidential, and The Revenant.

Milchan was born in 1944 in Haifa, Israel. His father, Shlomo Milchan, was a Polish-born Zionist who immigrated to Palestine in the 1930s, and his mother, Edna Milchan, was a native of Haifa. Milchan has two brothers, Elie and Ariel.

Milchan was educated at the prestigious Technion Institute in Haifa, where he studied chemical engineering. He also served in the Israeli military for two years.

After completing his studies, Milchan worked for his father’s fertilizer company, Milchan Brothers. He later moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where he worked for a Swiss trading company.

In the early 1970s, Milchan returned to Israel and established a film production company called New Regency Productions. His first film was the 1974 comedy Lemon Popsicle (also known as Eskimo Limon), which was a huge box office success in Israel.

Milchan’s first Hollywood film was the 1981 drama The King of Comedy, starring Robert De Niro and Jerry Lewis. The film was not a commercial success, but it did garner critical acclaim.
