Anita Hill is an American lawyer and academic who is currently a professor of social policy, law, and women’s studies at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management. She is best known for her testimony during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings in 1991, in which she accused Thomas of sexual harassment.

Born in Morristown, New Jersey, on July 30, 1956, Anita Hill is the daughter of Albert and Erma Hill. She has two brothers, Albert Jr. and Harold. She was raised in a Baptist household and attended both public and private schools. She graduated from Yale Law School in 1980 and began her career as an attorney in Washington, D.C.

In 1991, Hill testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas had sexually harassed her while she was working for him at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The hearings were televised and widely covered by the media, and Hill became a household name. Thomas was ultimately confirmed to the Supreme Court, but Hill’s testimony brought the issue of sexual harassment to the forefront of the national conversation.

In the years since the Thomas hearings, Hill has become a leading voice on the issue of sexual harassment. She has written a book, Speaking Truth to Power (1997), and has taught at a number of universities, including Brandeis, where she is currently a professor. She has also worked as an attorney and consultant on issues related to gender equality and workplace discrimination.

Hill has been married twice; first to Stephen Weiland, with whom she had two children, and then to John DuBois, with whom she has one child. She has an estimated net worth of $4 million.
